Credit Process Manager, Root Capital
“The focus on writing skills at EC prepared me well for communicating in the workplace, especially when my audience spans time zones and cultures.”
Lindsay is very happily employed as the Credit Process Manager at Root Capital, a non-profit social investment fund whose mission is to grow rural prosperity through investing in growing agricultural businesses in poor, environmentally vulnerable places. Root Capital accomplishes their goals through lending capital, delivering financial management training, and helping to strengthen market connections. In her position as Credit Process Manager, Lindsay says, “I analyze our lending procedures and policies and design systems and underwriting tools to ensure that our regional lending staff has the resources required to best serve our clients’ needs”.
During Term III of her junior year at Elmira, Lindsay was able to travel to Peru, where she interned with a micro-finance bank in Cuzco and discovered her passion for international development through financial access and empowerment. Since then, Lindsay has traveled to Kenya, Costa Rica, Peru, Senegal and Nicaragua for work, and is continuously motivated by the contributions that she and her company are able to make to the quality of life for people living in such areas.
Lindsay says that double majoring at Elmira College truly helped her to succeed at her current organization, which is a bilingual financial institution. In her time at EC, Lindsay was a Resident Assistant in multiple residence halls on campus, was a proud member of the Women’s Field Hockey team, and even met her future husband!
